What is the difference between a bench and a floor scale?

The primary difference between bench and floor scales is capacity and placement. Bench scales are compact and designed to sit on a tabletop, ideal for weighing parcels or small parts up to 60kg. Floor scales are heavy-duty platforms designed for large, bulky items or pallets, often with a capacity of up to 3000kg.

Do I need a Trade Approved bench scale?

If you’re selling goods by weight (e.g. charging a customer based on the reading on the scale), UK law requires you to use a Class III Trade Approved scale. For internal inventory checks or shipping estimations, a standard industrial scale is sufficient.

Can I use an industrial floor scale on an uneven surface?

For accurate readings, floor scales should be used on a level, stable surface. However, many of our industrial floor scales feature adjustable levelling feet to compensate for uneven floors and still ensure precision.
